About variable images

 

Variable images are linked to variables in the same way as variable text. The result of the expression associated with a variable image should be an image file name. Print technologies optimize print process time by only spooling recurring variable images once per job.

 
Windows

 

To create a variable image placeholder
 

 

1. In the Tools toolbar, click the Place Variable Image button and drag a rectangle to the desired size on your layout. (Alternately, from the Insert menu, selectImage Box.)

 

PrintShop Mail automatically assigns the name Image 1 to your variable.

 

                  2.  Double-click the name of your variable image in the  Variables tab in theProperties Panel to display the Expression Editor. (You can also right-click on the variable image and choose Edit Expression.)
 
 

To assign a database field

 

In theExpression Editor, insert a database field that contains the image filename by double-clicking the field.

 
To check and preview the results

 

You can check the result in theVariable tab in the Properties Panel. The image is displayed in Preview mode.

 

To toggle between Preview and Design modes, click this button in the View toolbar, or from the View menu, select Preview.

 

 

Mac OS
  1. In the Tools toolbar, click the Place Variable Image button and drag a rectangle to the desired size on your layout.

  2. Double-click the name of your variable image in the  Variables window, to display theExpression Editor.
  3. In the Expression Editor, insert a database field that contains the image filename by double-clicking the field.
